The Goose

Why the Goose?

Meet Willis

“Individual empowerment results from quality honking”

Behind every brand and company sits a story. How companies are named, why they started and the story behind the founders is often interesting. Talent Builder, as membership site for ambitious recruitment professionals, is a new construct. The history of Talent Builder goes back much further in time, but that’s another story. What I wanted to share was the reason why the goose is our mascot (his name is Willis).

Geese provide us with lessons for business that demonstrate the importance of communication, teamwork and trust.

Goal Achievement

As each goose flaps its wings it creates an uplift for the birds that follow. By flying in a V formation the whole flock adds 71% extra to the flying range. Efficiency that gives them greater range.
Recruitment is a goal orientated profession. Individual consultants can't always achieve their goals alone. Talent Builder sole purpose is to work collaboratively with you to help you hit your personal goals and objectives. When you feel supported and a sense of focus you will achieve more. Efficiency from working together.

Team Work

When a goose falls out of formation it feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into the V to feel the benefit of the lift of others.
Direction is important for a recruitment professional. When you know where you are going and you can be with others who are going to the same place - the community of members all pulling together and supporting each other on the journey. When we are willing to accept help and help others we become collectively stronger.

The Importance of Sharing

Once a goose has flown at the front of the V it drops back into formation and another goose takes the point position. Sharing the work, each goose knowing the importance of support. The encouragement from the back. Encouraging honks from the back letting the front goose know that they are all together.
Sharing your successes, learning from peers who've been on the same journey helps you to develop the fluency to deal with similar situations.

Encouragement is Important

Geese honk to let the lead goose know that they are all there. the honking also ensures everyone keeps up with the same speed to maintain the formation.
Positive honking is good for us. In groups and teams where there is encouragement, production is greater. Individual empowerment comes from quality honking. I will encourage you every step of the way as you embark on the missions within Talent Builder.

Empathy and Understanding

When a goose gets sick, two others drop out of formation and follow it to the ground to look after and protect it. No goose gets left behind.
I care about your success and will support you through the journey of development. The entire membership is there to support you.
Everyone understands that it doesn't always go to plan.
Together we are stronger.
